This Privacy Policy describes how HHU (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the NAVISIGN mobile application (“App”), available on Google Play under the package name com.navisign.app.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

3.3 In-App Purchases

The App offers a one-time premium purchase processed entirely through Google Play. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All transactions are handled by Google Play in accordance with Google’s Terms of Service.

Since the App does not collect personal data directly, we do not use, process, or store any personal information on our servers.

Third-party advertising data collected by Google AdMob is used solely for:

Premium users who complete the one-time purchase enjoy an ad-free experience. No advertising data is collected from Premium users as AdMob is disabled for them.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any user data with third parties.

The only third-party service integrated into the App is Google AdMob, which operates under Google’s own privacy policy and data processing terms. No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or tracking services are used.

NAVISIGN stores all reference content (signal flags, buoy data, maritime messages, Morse code) locally on your device. The App is designed to function fully offline without any internet connection.

No personal data is transmitted to or stored on our servers. User preferences (language selection, premium status) are stored locally on the device and are not synchronized or backed up to external servers.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR (European Economic Area)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights regarding data processed by Google AdMob:

To exercise these rights with respect to advertising data, you may reset or disable your Advertising ID in your Android device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). For requests directed at Google, please visit Google’s Privacy Tools.

The App will present a consent dialog (Consent Management Platform) before serving personalized advertisements to users in the EEA, in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

8. Your Rights Under CCPA (California)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with the following rights:

Google AdMob’s use of advertising data for personalized ads may constitute a “sale” under CCPA. You may opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device’s ad settings or by purchasing the Premium version, which disables all advertising.

9. Children’s Privacy

NAVISIGN is not directed at children under the age of 13 (COPPA) or under the age of 16 (GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Google AdMob within the App is not configured for child-directed treatment.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at the email address listed above, and we will take steps to address the issue.

10. Offline Functionality

NAVISIGN is designed to operate fully offline. All maritime reference data is bundled within the App. An internet connection is only used for: (a) displaying advertisements to free-tier users, and (b) processing in-app purchases via Google Play. If no internet connection is available, the App continues to function without limitations (ads will simply not appear).

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. Any changes will be posted at this URL, and the “Effective Date” at the top of this document will be updated accordingly.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
